IAN OSSIA
Ian's illustrious career began back in 1992, when a friend of Ian's passed a mix tape to Sasha, who in turn passed it on to Geoff Oakes, Renaissance proprietor. A combination of the right talent in the right place at the right time left Ian in the prestigious position as resident of Renaissance. Ian has grown with Renaissance to this day pioneering the inimitable Renaissance sound.
A real DJ's DJ, he is known equally for his knowledge of progressive house music, his phenomenal technical ability and his knack of watching a crowd and taking them with him on his nocturnal journey.
"Progressive can be a term that makes you think of one particular style," he points out, "instead of being more of a broad term. I think my style ranges from quite chuggy, deep house up to pretty full on, stomping stuff, so it can be quite a spectrum." Put simply, Ian is happiest behind the decks, with a box of records behind him and a hungry dancefloor out in front of him.
Ian has become one of the leaders of the international progressive dance scene taking him all over Europe, USA, Australia, the Far East and everywhere in between spinning alongside the world's best.
"In the new millennium it's a completely global thing - there's a global consciousness of people who understand that kind of music and I play music that's going to move them, do something to their heads almost. The satisfaction of seeing people enjoying themselves is what makes it all worthwhile."
Ian has produced two CDs for the Renaissance series of compilations. Renaissance 4 with Dave Seaman and Renaissance Presents with Nigel
Dawson. With a strong belief in using his own talents to the full, both of these CDs were produced and mixed entirely by Ian using the latest Digital Audio Technology, and go far beyond what is possible with two decks and a mixer. As far as his own production work is concerned, things are yet to take off, mainly due to a stubborn determination not to lean on someone else's talents. Ian's own expertise and knowledge will shine through and collaborations with several UK talents are on the way, so expect releases later on this year.
Ian is a true professional who over the years has developed and maintained a unique individuality, a talent who speaks through the music that he plays so well.
